POSITION SUMMARY
St. Charles Community College is seeking a skilled and dedicated Staff Technician to join our team. This role involves maintaining and repairing video production studio audio and video equipment, IT networking systems, classroom computers (both Windows and Apple), printers, plotters, 3D printers, and image-mounting equipment. You will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and repairing equipment and systems to facilitate an efficient and effective learning environment for students, faculty, and staff. The ideal candidate will also be capable of teaching multimedia and graphic design classes up to 49% of the time.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Maintenance and Repair
- Maintain and repair video production studio equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio systems.
- Ensure all audio and video equipment is operational and properly configured.
- Support and maintain classroom IT networking systems
- Troubleshoot and repair Windows and Apple computers in classrooms.
- Service and maintain printers, plotters, 3D printers, and image-mounting equipment.
Classroom Support
- Provide technical support for both Mac and Windows computers used across the School of Business, Technology, and Workforce Readiness, including hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Assist in setting up and configuring classroom technology for instructors.
- Provide support for various peripherals including printers, scanners, 3D printer, plotters and more.
- Ensure all classroom technology is in working order and provide immediate troubleshooting when necessary.
Instructional Duties
- Teach multimedia and graphic design courses up to 49% of the time.
- Prepare and deliver instructional materials and assessments.
- Provide guidance and support to students in their academic and practical work.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with faculty and staff to understand their technical needs and provide appropriate solutions.
- Provide technical training and support to faculty, staff, and students on the proper use of network, video, audio equipment and computer systems.
- Communicate effectively with the IT department to ensure seamless operation of all systems.
- Stay updated on the latest technology trends and advancements in video production, IT, and multimedia design.
Documentation
- Maintain detailed records of equipment, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Create and update user manuals, guides, and documentation for common technical procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Multimedia Design, Graphic Design) or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in maintaining and repairing video production equipment, IT networking systems, and classroom technology.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Apple operating systems.
- Experience with printers, plotters, 3D printers, and image-mounting equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.
- Teaching experience or the ability to effectively teach multimedia and graphic design courses.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Adobe Certified Associate).
- Experience in a higher education environment.
