Student Assistant - Computer Science

St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, nestled in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.

We are seeking a part-time Student Assistant (Lab Assistant) in the Computer Science Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Oversee the open lab available to IT students during specified hours.
• Maintain security of all equipment in the room to prevent theft or damage.
• Check students in and out of the lab.
• Assist students working on labs to the extent that you are able.

Preference will be given to students currently enrolled in IT classes and to those students who are more advanced in the program. A basic understanding of how the equipment (routers and switches) is configured is important. Initial schedule will be Fridays 5:00-9:00 p.m. and/or Saturdays 9:00-5:00 p.m.

In addition, there are occasional special projects that come up, but these times are flexible.

Computer Lab hours:

• 4:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m.
• 1:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Must be a current student enrolled in the IT program as SCC.
