POSITION SUMMARY

Manager II provides organizational leadership in the administration of Community Education Operations, including the design, implementation, and oversight of the programs and initiatives for the program.

  • Actively engaged in the development and application of skill growth activities and techniques for department programs.
  • Provides guidance and leadership in the delivery of services based on functional area of focus.
  • Ensures organizational initiatives are consistent with the plans and mission of St. Charles Community College.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communication; knowledge of policies and procedures affecting students, employees, and external audiences applying them fairly and consistently; ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations; applies best practices in direct support of the overall vision, mission, and goals of the college.
  • Knowledge and ability to clearly represent Community Education Operations, seeking new knowledge and tools to advance the objectives of the college. Cultivates alliances across internal and external boundaries to build and maintain strong collaborative working relationships.
  • Serves as trusted advisor, inspires confidence, and model's integrity in decision making, communication and treatment of students, employees, and others. Creates a work environment that is welcoming, embracing, and appreciative of diversity. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity and valuing differences.
  • Able to gather, compile, and analyze data/information and prepare reports as requested. Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple assignments and projects; create detailed action plans, and has the ability to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and directions in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Clarifies and communicates performance expectations, objectives, and roles to direct reports; effectively conveying ideas, instructions, and information through clear, concise written and verbal communication.
  • Makes decisions based on thorough analysis of issues and uses sound judgement.
  • Will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of constituents in a diverse multicultural community.
  • Provides strong and excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the daily operations of a college non-credit academic support department by providing leadership and planning to ensure goals are met following federal rules, laws, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with department staff and managers in reviewing and creating class schedules and courses, managing student enrollment, and delivering program outcomes based on strategic goals.
  • Manage daily department functions of assigned unit including program changes, staffing assignments and supervision, operating hours, travel activities, purchasing supplies and equipment and monitoring departmental budget.
  • Partner with college leaders ensuring effective management of fiscal activities for budget compliance and monitoring resource allocation.
  • Serves as the senior resource professional in answering questions and providing information for Community Education programs.
  • Build solid professional relationships with staff, colleagues, and college leadership in a diverse environment and support student success.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Master's degree or higher in communication, education, or related field plus two (2) years of experience in operations management, or Bachelor's degree and four (4) years' experience in operations management, or a combination of education and experience.

Requires regular and predictable attendance.

**Will be subject to a criminal background check.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Generally, reports to a Director or Dean; but may vary upon organizational need.
