Federal Work Study - Nursing Lab Assistant - S18-33

St. Charles Community College is looking for a work study assistant to assist in the nursing lab.

Purpose/Role within Organization: The Federal Work Study program offers part-time employment opportunities to eligible students, as determined by FAFSA results. FWS jobs should, to the maximum extent possible, complement and reinforce a student's educational program or career goals. In addition to hours worked within the campus department, students are also required to participate in community service hours.

Duties/Responsibilities: Assist Nursing Lab/Sim faculty with preparing the virtual hospital for the day's simulation, assist the faculty with running the technology during simulations, assist the faculty with stocking the labs.

This position will enhance student's education on a variety of levels. This position will use a student's creative abilities, organizational skills, technology skills, and interpersonal skills. All of which will develop skills necessary for success in the academic setting and beyond, regardless of degree path.

Community Service Requirement: Average of 2 hours of community service hours per month. Work with supervisor to come up with activities that serve the community as a whole.

Qualifications/Requirements: Good with technology, organized.

Hours/Work Schedule: 12-15 hours per week.

Evaluation Procedures: Final grades will be evaluated at the end of each term. Students not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress will lose eligibility to participate in the Federal Work-Study Program.

Evaluation Schedule: The end of each term.

Length of Employment: 7/1/18 12/15/18. Renewal of the position for subsequent semesters will depend upon Satisfactory Academic Progress and the availability of program funds.

Rate of Pay: $8/hour

Procedures Determining Rates of Pay: Rates of pay are determined by the SCC Board of Trustees.
