St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, nestled in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.

St. Charles Community College seeks a full-time Director of Student Life who serves as the college's primary student conduct officer and student Title IX officer, ensures the accuracy and integrity of the Student Handbook and all student compliance messaging/communications, supervises and assists the student activities function and ensures that ongoing program of student leadership and development are within the activities function, works with all aspects of out of classroom programming and services to promote inclusion; diversity and equity, works with community resources and partnerships to support student engagement and success, serves with division staff on the review and allocation of the emergency fund, manages all non-academic student grievances, works within the division on all aspects of student onboarding and orientation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage and process all aspects of student conduct issues.
  • Manage and process all aspects of student Title IX issues.
  • Process non-academic student complaints regarding cocurricular and out of classroom experience.
  • Prepare the Student Life department plan and assessment documents.
  • Responsible for maintaining, updating, publishing, and disseminating the student handbook, including identifying out of date processes and procedures and barriers to student engagement and success.
  • Responsible for ensuring the college is in compliance with all annual student notifications and mandated information
  • Prepares the biennial alcohol and other drug abuse prevention report/chairs the committee
  • Identify and develop working relationships and partnerships with community-based organizations who provide services to support students on campus
  • Work in collaboration with division and campus stakeholder to ensure students are aware of community resources/develops a resource list of such services
  • Ensure that all aspects of the student diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives are being advanced at the college
  • Supervise all the Student Life staff and is responsible for their professional growth and development
  • Responsible for ensuring Student Life programming is appropriately plan, delivered, assessed, and evaluated
  • Serve with division representatives to evaluate and process emergency fund grants
  • Engage with the division staff in the planning of all aspects of student onboarding and orientation
  • Assess and ensure improvement with all aspects of a programming for students
  • Assist with the successful implementation of mentoring (peer and employee) programs for students
  • Assist with programs for students who may be at risk of academic failure to improve their opportunities for success; to include pre-enrollment programs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Master's degree in a field related to student affairs,
  • Four (4) years direct experience in higher education providing on campus programming in a student life/activities office, orientation/recreational office, student conduct, or in a campus residential living environment, with at least
  • One (1) year of supervising staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Over five (5) years of experience in higher education at a community college in student affairs providing supervision to non-student staff for the delivery of campus programming, student conduct, or orientation/recreational services.
  • Direct experience with programs that support diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and/or at risk students.
