St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, nestled in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.

We are seeking a full-time, Director of International Student Services who will enhance international student recruitment and international student support programs and services, maintain and enhance diversity of study abroad offerings, serve as student immigration subject matter expert, and ensure compliance with student immigration regulations. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the Primary School Official (PSO) for St. Charles Community College and provide day-to-day leadership to Designated School Official(s) (DSO) in matters related to student immigration visa processes, enrollment requirements, and coordinating CPT processes to support student success and retention.
  • Engages in the effective recruitment of international students to grow enrollment and ensures web-based international marketing information is up-to-date, high in quality, and aligned with best practices.
  • Responsible for arranging student housing for international students, which may include implementation of a home stay program.
  • Maintains mastery of knowledge in and compliance with student visa regulations and related reporting requirements.
  • Oversees international student intake, travel, orientation, advisement and support, engaging in the process actively as needed on a day-to-day basis, and handles complex cases, including difficult communications with non-compliant students.
  • Ensures appropriate support services, including advising, are available to international students. Responsible for ensuring international students are appropriately placed in coursework and maintain at least 12 credit hours.
  • Identifies opportunities to engage international students in campus life.
  • Develops partnerships needed to expand study abroad programs/opportunities for SCC students.
  • Ensures data related to international students are tracked and internal and external reporting is completed.
  • Analyzes and interprets academic skills assessment results to provide progress reports.
  • Serves on campus and departmental committees as needed.

  • With limited resources, increase enrollment of and services to international students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and three or more years of experience with international student services or study abroad/international studies. Should have an understanding of recruitment strategies needed to grow enrollment and a depth of knowledge in the management of student immigration compliance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree with three or more years providing leadership to international student services or study abroad programs. Community college experience is desired. Multi-lingual communication skills desired.
