We are seeking a full-time Dean, Technical Science to provide responsible leadership for an academic division, including the delivery, assessment, and review of all programs and courses, supervision of all division faculty and staff, budget management , and administering College policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains and supports high level of academic quality for student learning and provides leadership that contributes to increased student retention and success.

  • Oversee the growth of online education opportunities including dual credit/dual enrollment for the division.

  • Support, assist and advise in the development of new and expanded pathway and/or programmatic opportunities to support current and evolving topics, skills and program specialties.

  • Collaborate in the development of non-credit to credit; credit for prior learning; articulation agreements -12, 2/4 year; and business and industry workforce skills strategies in order to align programming to address workforce and skill development needs.

  • Collaborates and/or provides input and support in the hiring, evaluation, professional development, promotion and assignment of faculty, instructional and programmatic staff.

  • Oversees instructional resources and spaces to insure alignment with programmatic needs. Provides input in the development of new and/or realignment of resources to support current and evolving programmatic needs.

  • Works with program faculty, instructors and staff to develop schedules, space and resource assignments are created, submitted and implemented in accordance with program needs and designated timelines.

  • Assists and/or leads efforts to expand programmatic outreach, collaborative initiatives and resource development (i.e. business and industry collaborations, content leadership teams, program advisory groups, grant applications, agreements, etc.).

  • Develops and provides oversight for budgets. Leads/assists in reporting related to programming and/or in adherence to accreditation, funding or other instructional requirements.

  • Identifies strategies for developing new programs and evaluating existing programs ensuring ongoing assessment and program review.

  • Stays current on classroom teaching practices/techniques within department and collaborates with faculty to identify new innovative approaches to instruction.

  • Communicates information to faculty and staff in a timely and professional manner.

  • Promotes the division's departments internally and externally.

  • Provides leadership that builds collaboration, respect, and inclusion within and between divisions and departments within the college.

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate Degree from an accredited institution in Technical Science or a related discipline, and
  • Five (5) or more years effective experience in a Technical Science or a related discipline, and
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in a Technical Science field

OR

  • Any combination of education and experience that results in possession of skills, knowledge and behaviors as outlined in the positions' core competencies below:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience as an administrator at a community college.
  • Community college teaching experience.

Core Competency Areas: Knowledge in computer science or programming, engineering, technical/industrial skilled or related areas.
