POSITION SUMMARY

Providing accurate, timely information to internal and external constituents including federal, state, and private reporting agencies. This position serves to coordinate, administer, or manage data as appropriate with minimal direction and often does so independently. Will use a variety of software tools such as SAS, SQL editor, ZogoTech, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI, and others to pull, prep, blend, analyze, and present data from various sources to create meaningful insights for administrators, faculty, and staff.

The position serves to maintain historical data and to keep current the data sets and variables needed and used by IR in its day-to-day operation. Will play a key role in supporting data collection and tracking needed to advance the mission and strategic plan of the institution. This position is responsible for all aspects of the report development process including gathering requirements, report development, testing, implementation, summarization, and documentation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to identify, obtain, and analyze institutional and other relevant data. Receive report requests, evaluate requirements, build queries and reports, check data, and then deploy those reports. Ability to create data dashboards, advanced visualizations, and administer data visualization systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with Administrative Computing to design databases and determine specifications for capturing data. Create, enhance, and maintain datasets from multiple sources. Produce accurate and timely reports for appropriate departments that fulfill reporting requirements. Create and deliver end-user training and documentation for analytics tools, visualization, and reports. Manage data sets, keep data sets error-free, analyze and interpret results, and manage census-related processes.

Prepare resource materials for the college such as the SCC fact book. Attend all meetings and make presentations as required on behalf of the department, director, and dean. Perform other duties assigned by SCC leadership as needed.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years' experience in Institutional Research, or related field; or Master's degree and two (2) years' experience in Institutional Research, or related field.

Demonstrated advanced proficiency in using programs such as SAS, SQL Editor, ZogoTech, Microsoft Power BI, and Microsoft Excel. Demonstrate advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. Demonstrated ability to apply scientific thinking to a wide array of practical problems and use nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) during different projects.

Requires regular and predictable attendance.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Normal physical job functions performed in a standard office environment. Position may require occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 20 lbs.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to Dean of Institutional Research but may vary based on organizational needs.
