POSITION SUMMARY

The Academic Program Coordinator - Education is a part-time position that is responsible for managing and assisting with the coordination of educational programs and activities for credit programs at college locations. Manages projects and processes ensuring operational goals and objectives are reached. Ensures compliance with college policies and regulatory rules and statutes. Position may require oversight of projects at more than one college location. Formulates and develops program plans, goals, and objectives, including staffing, facilities, curriculum, and educational philosophy; assures consistency of plans with the mission of St. Charles Community College.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with subject matter experts, faculty, and administrators to design and develop comprehensive and sound curriculum aligning with educational and accreditation standards, goals, and objectives. Serves as the primary coordinator responsible for evaluating educational strategies to enhance learning outcomes for students in a specific discipline(s). Create a positive and supportive learning environment and ensure consistency and logic in the curriculum and instructional practices. Works in partnership with college departments in facilitating recruitment and credit offerings as well as districts and community partners. Collect and analyze data related to educational programs and activities, including student performance, feedback and program effectiveness. Recommend data-driven proposals for program improvement and projections to relevant stakeholders.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting academic programs through quality and excellence. Leads discussion of textbooks, open education resources, and classroom material adoption.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; assists in the preparation of college catalog, class schedules, and other public information for assigned programs.
  • Fully understands classroom procedures, student conduct, and flowing safe practices in classroom activities.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with students, faculty, and staff in a diverse environment. Maintains accurate student and other records and review syllabi within departments required by law and the Board of Trustees.
  • Collaborate with the Dean and Assistant Dean to review courses, assess student outcomes, adjust objectives for courses, and identify peer evaluator and faculty mentors. Additionally, partnering with the Dean on course scheduling, substitutions, student credit for prior learning outcomes, transfer credit evaluation, program growth, and evaluation of performance.
  • Participates in the student grade appeal and grievance processes per the student handbook. Lead efforts to create pathways and degrees for students pursuing the Education program.
  • Effectively communicate deadlines to part-time faculty.
  • Hold departmental meetings to coordinate requirements with faculty.
  • Coordinate and facilitate hiring of part-time faculty with Human Resources. Initiate and organize the Advisory Board/Group.

Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals from a variety of multi-cultural backgrounds. Position requires related duties as assigned. Requires regular and predictable attendance.


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Master's degree in supporting discipline or related field, plus one year experience in an educational environment, or Bachelor's degree in supporting discipline or related field, and three years' experience in higher education, or a combination of education and experience.


REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to the department Dean; but may vary upon organizational need.

**Will be subject to a criminal background check.
