St. Charles Community College is seeking a full-time Program Specialist for the Continuing Education Department.

Duties include:

  • Organizes, plans, coordinates and acquires necessary teachers, funds and supplies to run programs in order to provide a positive educational experience for all ages.
  • Contacts educational institutions, community historical societies and local businesses to organize programs that will meet needs and interests of students and community, and benefit the college and local community.
  • Develops and implements curriculums of interest for programs.
  • Prepares budget and determines allocation of funds for staff, supplies and equipment, and facilities.
  • Analyzes data from questionnaires, interviews, and group discussions to evaluate curriculums, teaching methods, and community participation in educational and other programs.
  • Maintains and oversees computer labs and technical equipment assigned to Continuing Education programming.
  • Primary focus of this specialist will be vocational and professional development training, but might be assigned to oversee any area of youth, community, personal development, professional development and senior programming.
  • Direct preparation of and strategies for publicity and marketing activities to promote programs and events; participation in local community events, chamber meetings, etc. is required.
  • Directly supervises various part-time employees & instructors for programs, to include oversight of programs at off-campus locations.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Working knowledge of teaching techniques, marketing and implementation strategies.
